Early Learning Centre (ELC)

The Toorak College 'Early Learning Centre' (ELC) welcomes children and families to our learning community.

As you commence your journey we are committed to providing a rich, stimulating learning environment for every child through inquiry based learning, nurturing wonder and curiosity. The Primary Years Program provides the framework for learning in the ELC, where we recognise children as capable, competent and strong individuals.

As a member of our learning community your child will be given the opportunity to express themselves in a variety of ways, including spoken word, drawing, painting, music and movement, drama and sculpture. Our collaborative working environment allows children to explore ideas through individual and group projects. Each child learns to respect their environment and one another, appreciating that we are unique and it is these differences that make our community special.

Toorak College's ELC learning environment is carefully designed to facilitate learning. Each classroom reflects the community of learners who explore and enjoy their environment.

The curriculum is responsive to the children and developed collaboratively. Children explore their world and develop early language and mathematical skills. The specialist program includes Music and Movement, Library and the 4 year olds’ Perceptual Motor Program. Through Units of Inquiry the children are guided in the exploration of the world we live in, transcending traditional subject boundaries.
