Years 3 and 4 emphasise the importance of developing independence, accepting responsibility and being organised in and beyond the classroom.
The program aims to develop strong academic skills, as well as being stimulating and engaging for students, as we explore our place in a complex and changing world. Through individual and collaborative learning opportunities the students develop social, self-management and leadership skills.
In Year 4 there is an emphasis on Information and Communications Technology in preparation for the introduction of the computer notebook program.
The Outdoor Education program sees students leaving the school for their first overnight experience in Year 3. Students are involved in a range of adventurous pursuits with different levels of challenge, allowing students to take risks in a very safe and supportive environment. Year 4 Outdoor Education is based on a two night stay at Phillip Island. This program enables students to explore this unique environment and develop an understanding of the precious habitat of the island.
Year 3 and 4 students participate together in a weekly sports program. All students in Year 3 are part of the Wardle House Instrumental Strings Program (WHISP). This enables all students to have string instrument tuition for the year and to experience performance as a group. The music program also includes a combined choir which is invited to perform in whole school music concerts, allowing the students to experience performance on a grand scale.
