In special memory of one of our past students, The Alice Sloan Memorial Scholarship will be awarded for a new student entering Toorak College at Year 10, 2010. It is valued at up to 50 % of the Toorak College tuition fee.
Applicants must meet the following criteria for selection:
- Be in Year 9, not currently enrolled to attend Toorak College in Year 10, 2010
- Demonstrate a strong involvement in sport
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- Be involved in a range of activities – drama, dance, sport
- Be willing to become an active member of 'Tripp' house
- The successful candidate is expected to be an ambassador for the School and may at times be expected to do this in a formal environment
Applicants must also consider becoming a member of the 'Alice Sloan Trust Committee' whose role it is to:
- Raise awareness of the Trust
- Fundraise with proceeds being donated to the Trust
- Promote the 'Walks of Life' - the Trust’s major annual fundraising event
- Plan an activity within the local community that aims to give less advantaged children an opportunity they would not otherwise have to participate in activities such as music, sport, art and dance
- Assist with the organisation of the annual Toorak College Row-A-Thon
Alice Sloan Memorial Scholarship Benefits:
External applicants granted The Alice Sloan Scholarship will receive up to 50% reduction in tuition fees only. This is valid until the scholarship holder reaches the end of Year 12 and is subject to the following 'Scholarship Conditions' being met.
Alice Sloan Memorial Scholarship Conditions:
Successful applicants will be required to pay the School’s Application for Enrolment Fee ($66) and relevant Endowment Fee.
The Alice Sloan Memorial Scholarship is limited to external Year 9 students not currently enrolled to attend Toorak College.
Toorak College reserves the right not to award the scholarship if, in the School’s opinion, there is no appropriate applicant. The decision of the Principal is final and absolute.
In order for the scholarship to be ongoing, recipients must:
- Continue to make a significant contribution to the School in their area(s) of special talent
- Maintain a satisfactory academic standard
- Display acceptable conduct
- Ensure all monies owing to the School are paid as requested
How to Apply:
- Download and submit your Scholarship Application Form, with supporting documents
(refer below) by the closing date
- If short-listed, attend an interview with the Principal, 2 - 3 weeks following the closing date

In addition, all applicants are required to submit the following:
- A photocopy of the most recent school report
- A clear and recent photograph of the applicant
- A copy of any relevant supporting documents such as awards, certificates, photos of trophies.
Note: Please treat the supporting documentation in the same way as a job application in terms of its presentation. Supporting documents can not be returned to you so please do not send originals.
Application Closing Date:
Applications close at midday on Friday 6 November 2009.
- The application fee is $75
- Late applications (accepted at the discretion of Toorak College) will incur a late fee of $70
Acknowledgement of Application:
Once you have completed your application and we receive your supporting documents you will be sent an email acknowledging your application. You will be contacted after the closing date to advise if you have been short listed.
All parents will be notified of the outcome for their child's application within 4 - 6 weeks of the closing date. We ask that you do not contact the School during this time.
