Head of Languages
At Toorak College our Languages Program aims to build cultural and intercultural awareness, inspire academic growth and provide future pathways beyond school. 2019 has seen the introduction of French from Year 5 and Chinese from Prep to complement our current offerings for these subjects in the senior years and we are now looking for our next Head of Languages to further enhance language learning right across the School.
As part of the leadership team, Heads of Faculty at Toorak College are responsible for shaping and building high performing teams and a culture that supports the philosophy and ethos of the School. Curriculum development to support the delivery of relevant, innovative and engaging learning experiences to achieve the best possible outcomes for all students are fundamental.
Specifically, we are seeking a secondary trained French Teacher with a genuine passion for language and the recognition of its importance in not only education but in life beyond school. The teaching position offered is a permanent, full time role and the Head of Languages position is offered as a fixed three (3) year term with an internal re-application process at the expiry of this term.
The role is for a Semester 2 start, however for the right candidate, the commencement date can be negotiated. The successful candidate will possess:
- A strong commitment to excellence in education and languages;
- A proven capacity for innovative, flexible and research-based teaching practice;
- An indvidualised learning approach and ability to demonstrate expertise in their chosen field; and
- The desire to work collaboratively within a high performing team setting.
