Following the sporting competitions, participants came together for dinner, drinks and the presentation of the shield to the Collegians who were victorious on the day. Congratulations to each and every student of Year 12, Class of 2018! Toorak College girls have achieved ATAR scores that triple the National average with 45 percent achieving 85 or higher, placing them in the top 15 percent of the country.

Senior SchoolCreative Journeys
Our recent Creative Journeys exhibition showcased some of the artworks, images, designs, films, food, products and creations that were completed as part of the VCE coursework in Media, Product Design and Technology, Visual Communication Technology, Studio Arts, Food Studies and Art. Students took on the challenge of finding ways to communicate and visually represent their ideas, investigations and explorations with some outstanding results. We thank our friends, families and community who came to support our students as they presented their work. This exhibition was truly a wonderful display of collaboration, creativity and originality.

Toorak crowned National Dance and Aerobics Champions!
76 girls and their coaches travelled to the Gold Coast to represent Toorak College this weekend in the Dancestar and Schoolaerobics National Championships. 13 teams competed and Toorak came home with an incredible 8 medals! We are proud of all of our teams who have worked so hard this year. Their performances were electrifying and the support they showed for each other represented the Toorak spirit so well.

Life is a Cabaret!
Cabaret 2018 was celebrated in glittering style, with performances by senior students, staff and special guests. Our new junior jazz band 'Little Sisters' made their debut performance, ahead of senior band 'Sisters Of Swing'. Each year an inspirational female jazz performer is invited, to perform for our students and to give some insight into the life of a professional musician. This year our guest artist was saxophonist Kellie Santin who inspired our girls with her playing and her words of encouragement. Kellie was backed by 'Jazz royalty' Steve Sedergreen, Lucas Taranto and Nick Karasavvidis.

The Toorak Collegians Grants Program introduced in 2016, offers support to past students of the school undertaking projects in the field of Arts, Sports, Science, Community or Charity. The initiative aims to encourage and foster entrepreneurship, innovation and creative endeavour. The Collegians Committee are delighted to announce that in the recent February round, two successful applicants were awarded a financial contribution of $1,000 each..

Toorak CollegiansMartine Botha TC '07 - Facilitating Female Empowerment In Indonesia
After Martine Botha (TC '07) completed both her undergraduate and masters degrees at the University of Melbourne, she worked in communications and fundraising for various organisations including World Vision, Oxfam and the State Library of Victoria. Martine has always been passionate about helping those less fortunate, and was interested in getting some ‘hands on’ experience working in a developing country. With this in mind, Martine took up a role with Australian Volunteers for International Development in 2013 and has been working as a Communications Officer for Caritas Keuskupan Sibolga. The office is situated in Gunungsitoli on Nias Island in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Since working for CKS, Martine has been involved in various projects including partnering with an organisation to provide water filters to poor families, creating an extra-curricular activities program for disabled children at the orphanage, as well as establishing a website for the organisation. Martine's current project is facilitating a vocational education centre CKS runs for underprivileged youth. The courses offered include sewing, computer studies and salon, and targets women in particular.
