Junior Years

Our Junior School involves exposure to many different academic and co-curricular areas and offerings, ensuring a passion ignites in every one of our students.

Wardle House, our Junior School, is a nurturing environment where each student is encouraged to be the best they can be. In the primary years, we light the flame that will burn throughout our students' educational journey.

Ranked the number 1 primary school on the Mornington Peninsula, we are proud to offer a Junior School program that focuses on high quality education and the overall wellbeing of each and every child. Our small classes and individual care, as well as our endeavour to provide challenge and academic success for all students, is what sets us apart.

Building on the foundations of Project Enlighten, Project Ignite is an inquiry-based learning program that is centred around key concepts and questions for discovery.

Project Ignite is based on the belief that all children are unique and that they shine in varying areas. We expose our students to a diverse range of learning and co-curricular experiences from a young age so they can find their interests and passions with confidence.

Our inquiry model is the foundation of our students' learning journey, and is complemented with an unwavering focus on the development of core skills in numeracy and literacy. Students use their skills in English, Mathematics and the Program of Inquiry to extend their knowledge through innovative specialist classes, each taught by expert teachers in the field. These specialist offerings are clustered into five main groups:

  • Language
  • Research and Digital Citizenship
  • STEM-X
  • The Arts
  • Health and Wellbeing.

It is through their exposure to a multitude of subjects at a young age that students are presented with the opportunity to dabble, synthesise their understandings and ultimately find their fire.

Coupled with the Project Ignite curriculum offering is our daily wellbeing program, a range of co-curricular opportunities, leadership opportunities, community engagement programs and an emphasis on developing each individual’s self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence.

Toorak College students have a strong sense of who they are as a person and what kind of learner they are. Upon graduation from Year 6, they are prepared for Year 7 and beyond.
